Fabio Jafet Supports the Society of Professional Journalists



Fabio Jafet began his career as a broadcast news journalist. For 12 years Fabio Jafet covered some of the most shocking and controversial events of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. His desire to get the best story often led to him going undercover to such destinations as Cuba, the Bahamas, Mexico, Australia, and the Middle East. During this time, Fabio Jafet was nominated for 13 News Emmys and won 9 of those nominations. Fabio Jafet was a member of the Society of Professional Journalists while he was working in the field of broadcast news journalism. Fabio Jafet found that meeting colleagues through this professional organization helped him to grow as a journalist. He also valued the camaraderie that the organization encouraged among members.

Fabio Jafet: Broadcast News Journalist



Fabio Jafet started his career in 1989 in the field of broadcast news journalism. As a broadcast news journalist Fabio Jafet was at the center of many significant events of the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century. Fabio Jafet covered such memorable events as the O.J. Simpson trial, the historic papal visit to Cuba, the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, the Oklahoma City bombing, the murder of Gianni Versace, the 1996 Olympics, the events of 9/11 and the war in Afghanistan. Fabio Jafet also took on assignments that required him to go undercover. He traveled to Mexico, Australia, the Bahamas, and the Middle East into sometimes dangerous situations in order to do the best reporting he could offer. Fabio Jafet covered these major events with the professionalism and dedication that helped him to win 9 News Emmys over his career. Fabio Jafet also won a Green Eye Shadow Award as a result of his superior reporting.

Fabio Jafet worked in many roles during his tenure in television. He held management positions that gave him additional experience. He was in charge of Special Projects and News Programming.
